Hanna Krall 1935/1937

 

(born May 20, 1935 or 1937 in Warsaw) - Polish writer and journalist. She was born in Warsaw to a Jewish family of officials.

During World War II, many members of her immediate family, including her father, were killed by the Germans. The Holocaust and the fate of Polish Jews became the main topic of her work with time.

She graduated in journalism from the University of Warsaw, taking up work in the largest press titles in Poland.

She is world-famous for her remarkable interview with Marek Edelman, the last surviving leader of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising "To Outwit God" (Zdążyć przed Panem Bogiem, 1977).

Her texts were the basis of film scripts. Her work has been translated into many languages. She is a laureate of numerous awards.
